| The
private Medical Scheme was initially set up by the
Benevolent Fund for Serving Police Officers in 1979 and
a short time later extended to continue through
retirement. Over the years membership has been extended
to partners and children up to 18 years of age, and also
to civilian support staff and their families. Recently
children over 18 years can become full members in their
own right.
The main aim of the
scheme remains the provision of healthcare, which is not
readily available on the NHS.
Private inpatient
treatment can now be authorised just 2 days after
receiving a completed claim form.
What is more important to
you than your health and that of your family? No-one can
guarantee good health, but in case you become ill, it is
very important to know that the best possible medical
attention will be available without delay. Regrettably
while there is little doubt about the quality of NHS
care, it is not available when
you need it. Also you can find
